LONDON – Open Mobile Media, organizer of The Open Mobile Summit (OMS) in San Francisco and London, has acquired M for Mobile, an events and content producer focused on mobile commerce.
Open Mobile Media (OMM) is a subsidiary of FC Business Intelligence (FCBI), a London-based conference and business intelligence company, whose sizeable portfolio of industry-specific brands includes Telematics Update, eyeforpharma, CSP Today, Wind Energy Update, Ethical Corporation and EyeforTravel.
OMM’s flagship conferences – The Open Mobile Summit in San Francisco and London – are considered themost influential events in the international mobile industry calendar. Past speakers include Stephen Elop, CEO, Nokia; Dan Hesse, CEO, Sprint;John Donahoe, CEO, eBay; Vint Cerf, Chief Internet Evangelist, Google; Rich Miner, co-founder, Android; and Mitchell Baker, CEO of Mozilla Corporation.
The acquisition of M for Mobile sharpens OMM’s focus on mobile commerce and mobile payments, an up-and-coming area in mobile that promises to let consumers consolidate cash, check and credit card payments, as well as all manner of loyalty programs, under a single umbrella, that of their smartphone.
“The acquisition of M for Mobile aligns with our goal to cultivate up-and-coming verticals in the mobile space,” says Precksha Saksena-Sood, general manager of Open Mobile Media. “Mobile commerce is definitely one of those areas.”
Last year, M for Mobile held four conferences on mobile commerce and payments, two in Europe and two in the United States. For this year, three conferences have been planned: two to discuss the mobile wallet and one to look at mobile payments.
Open Mobile Media (OMM)
Open Mobile Media, through its events and publications, strives to address all the critical issues of the wireless and Internet convergence, for all the players in the ecosystem – from device manufacturers and carriers through to Internet and media giants, commerce and retailers, electronics and PC manufacturers, market innovators and app publishers.
Its flagship events are The Open Mobile Summit (OMS) in San Francisco and London. While the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona is arguably the biggest mobile event in the world, The Open Mobile Summit, with its C-level attendance, inner-circle networking and broad focus on the future of converged mobile, Internet, media and commerce, is recognized by many as the most influential.
FC Business Intelligence (FCBI)
As a conference and business intelligence company, FC Business Intelligence (FCBI) helps leading corporations define future strategy and direction, develop growth opportunities and solve problems facing their sectors. Founded in 1990, FCBI has pioneered a business model based on the development of industry-specific conferences, community-driven websites, newsletters and intelligence reports.
Although conferences remain at the core of this model – proving abasic truth that there is no substitute for getting senior business people together to meet and share experiences – intelligence publications are gaining in importance within FCBI.
Today, FCBI’s brands include Telematics Update, eyeforpharma, CSP Today, Wind Energy Update, Ethical Corporation and EyeforTravel.
