Google Glass partners with makers of Ray-Ban, Oakley

It might be hot among the tech savvy, but in a bid to appeal to a wider audience, Google Glass is undergoing a makeover courtesy of one of eyewear’s hottest companies.But will the surfer chic of Oakley and the celebrity cool of Ray-Ban be enough to take the cyborg-style eyepiece mainstream? It’s a good first step, say analysts. “Up until now, Google Glass really has been a device for nerds,” said Carmi Levy, an independent technology analyst. “Style is often the last thing on a manufacturer’s mind but, obviously, if it’s going to become a mainstream success it needs to sport less of a ‘techy’ look and look more ‘normal.’
