The Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts (AIVA), for the second year in a row, recognizes AccuWeather with three digital awards — one Gold award for its iPhone app and two Silver awards for its Android app and its mobile weather website. The W3 Awards are the latest in numerous accolades that recognize AccuWeather’s commitment and success in providing intuitive and stylish weather content that is easy to use, easy to understand, and helps people make decisions throughout the day.
“We continually strive to combine engaging user experiences with the best global weather data available anywhere. AccuWeather’s mobile weather solutions include unique and innovative features, such as AccuWeather MinuteCast®, the only minute-by-minute precipitation forecast for a person’s exact street address or GPS location. “This is another recognition of the global leadership shown by AccuWeather in creating the best products for peoples’ lives and working cooperatively with the world’s leading partners and governments to achieve the remarkable result,” said Barry Lee Myers, AccuWeather’s Chief Executive Officer.
Additional popular features include hourly and extended forecasts, weather radar and satellite for tracking the latest storms, and RealFeel Temperature®, AccuWeather’s patented technology that analyzes multiple weather factors to determine how the local temperature actually feels. Users of the AccuWeather mobile website also have access to the groundbreaking, 45-day extended forecast, and users of AccuWeather Android and iPhone apps have the option of receiving automatic, pushed severe weather alerts.
The ninth Annual W3 Awards is sanctioned and judged by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts, an invitation-only body consisting of top-tier professionals from a “Who’s Who” of acclaimed media, interactive, advertising, and marketing firms.
