Metro Nashville Public Schools Selects Tyler Technologies’ Integrated Versatrans Student Transportation Solution

PLANO, Texas–Tyler Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: TYL) has signed a contract with Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools (MNPS) to provide Tyler’s Versatrans® student transportation management software solution as part of the district’s overall goal of creating more efficient processes for routing, tracking and maintaining the district’s nearly 1,100 buses.

“We pride ourselves on open communication and the ease with which you can interact with our organization at any level. Tyler focuses on building strong, positive relationships with each and every one of our clients, and we’re happy to have that opportunity with Metro Nashville Public Schools.”

MNPS transports about 45,000 students on 1,070 buses. The district also provides transportation for approximately 2,400 field trips, 1,100 Encore gifted program trips, and 2,800 evening program trips each school year.

Efficiency of processes and project management, as well as Versatrans’ solid reputation for excellent client service and Tyler’s open and frequent communications with its school district clients, were key factors in the MNPS selection of this new solution suite. As the nation’s 42nd-largest school district, the size of the district magnifies the value of every efficiency created.

After a competitive review, MNPS chose the entire suite of Versatrans applications, including Versatrans Triptracker®, Versatrans Fleetvision®, Versatrans Routing & Planning™, and Versatrans My Stop™, which provides mobile access for parents, students and guardians to look up school bus locations. The district utilized the existing National Joint Powers Alliance (NJPA) contract in procuring Tyler’s Versatrans solution.

In choosing Versatrans, the district immediately created efficiencies by consolidating its previous four vendors that supplied routing, field trips, GPS and vehicle maintenance systems, down to one system and one technology partner.

“Metro Nashville Public Schools committed to engaging a single-source transportation solution, but beyond that, they focused on finding a partner with a proven track record of developing strong working relationships and excellent customer service, and we’re pleased that Tyler met that criteria,” said Ted Thien, senior vice president and general manager of Tyler’s Versatrans solution. “We pride ourselves on open communication and the ease with which you can interact with our organization at any level. Tyler focuses on building strong, positive relationships with each and every one of our clients, and we’re happy to have that opportunity with Metro Nashville Public Schools.”

By preparing more than 83,000 students across 154 schools to excel in higher education, work and life, Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools strives to be known for urban school reform, its commitment to social and emotional learning, and rising academic achievement; it currently ranks in the top 27 percent of districts in Tennessee for academic performance.

Versatrans products are currently used by nearly 1,800 school districts in the United States and Canada.
