Cleveland Cavaliers Enhance Fan Experience with Gimbal Proximity Beacon Technology, YinzCam-Developed Team Mobile App Team Partners with Gimbal and Yinzcam to Deliver Cutting-Edge Interactive In-Venue Experiences for Fans at Quicken Loans Arena

The Cleveland Cavaliers have partnered with Gimbal, Inc., the leader in location and proximity-based mobile engagement, along with YinzCam, Inc. the leading developer of mobile interactive in-game sports technology applications, to deliver cutting-edge interactive in-venue mobile app experiences that bring to life the in-venue game-day experience.

YinzCam, Inc., the developer of the official Cleveland Cavaliers app, uses Gimbal proximity beacons with Apple’s iBeacon technology to push highly relevant notifications to Cavs fans via their mobile devices.  Gimbal proximity beacons have been integrated into NBA, and other professional sporting venues, and league apps, through the YinzCam partnership announced earlier this year.

The Cavaliers, Gimbal and YinzCam have worked together to implement the proximity beacon technology to give fans a comprehensive, mobile location-aware experience throughout Quicken Loans Arena.  Fans with the official Cleveland Cavaliers app who opt in will receive special offers at the Cavaliers Team Shop, location-based updates, offers at partner locations and more.

Fans who elect to opt-in to receive push notifications via the Cavaliers app will receive notifications while inside Quicken Loans Arena for Cavs games that are tailored specifically to their physical location, activities, time and personal interests.  The Gimbal platform capabilities include:

  • Welcome messages and exclusive video content for fans as they enter and explore different areas of the arena
  • Exclusive content delivered by points of interest, such as the 1976 Miracle of Richfield video highlights, viewable when fans pass the display of the original hardwood classic court from the Richfield Coliseum
  • Promotional incentives and giveaways to fans who attend games
  • Reminders about game times and to pick up 50/50 raffles tickets when volunteers are close by
  • Fan-controlled privacy with up-front opt-in, so engagement is only on the terms the fan wants
