Manufacturer’s Latest Innovation Offers Versatility to Suit a Broad Range of Applications

–Fuji Electric Corp. of America has introduced a new handheld environmental/ general area survey meter for the North American market, designed to suit a variety of applications including nuclear facilities, laboratories, and shipping ports. The PEGASUS is a GPS-enabled device for ambient dose rate measurements that boasts exceptional accuracy over a wide dose rate range. Its light weight and small size make it easy to carry, and its backlit display and large buttons allow users to operate it with a single hand.

“Protecting the health of workers by accurately measuring ambient dose is critical, and Fuji Electric’s reputation and experience is widely recognized by customers around the world.”

“The need for versatility and flexibility in Radiation Monitoring equipment is becoming more prevalent, and Fuji Electric responded to this market demand with the PEGASUS,” said James Menge, Fuji Electric’s National Sales Manager for Radiation Instrumentation. “Offering GPS capabilities sets our device apart from other survey meters, and the product’s portable size is key for workers that are carrying it around for a good portion of the day.”

The PEGASUS is dustproof and water resistant for use in outdoor applications and includes a USB data output function that allows the unit to transmit measurement data to PCs. The display indicates both digital and analog dose rates, and the unit is operated with standard AA batteries or rechargeable battery.

“Reliability and accuracy are important qualities in any product, but when dealing with radiation measurement it truly is a matter of life safety,” said Menge. “Protecting the health of workers by accurately measuring ambient dose is critical, and Fuji Electric’s reputation and experience is widely recognized by customers around the world.”
