KinectUs™ Launches New On-Demand Social App

June 10, 2015 By LBSzone

KinectUs™ Launches New On-Demand Social App That Connects People for Activities While Protecting Mobile Privacy – Want to grab a coffee? See a movie? Up for a run? Choose from a menu of activities and KinectUs™ will instantly search nearby and let you know who in your network wants to do the same thing right now.

New On-Demand Social App

The average person has a social network with 200 to 300+ connections1 – how can people unlock these networks to enjoy more real-life social connections while protecting their mobile privacy?

“Together, these approaches provide an experience that is very easy to use but keeps people in constant control of their privacy.”

A new on-demand, location-based social app created by Boston-based KinectUs™ makes unlocking these networks easy. Select from a menu of activities and KinectUs™ will instantly search nearby and let you know who in your network that is on KinectUs ™ wants to do the same thing, right now. Powered by an advanced, machine learning algorithm browsing results get ‘smarter’ as your preferences are learned.

Passion for Mobile Privacy

KinectUs™ uses a patent-pending ‘private browsing’ approach that requires two people to mutually select each other before they are ‘Kinected’ in a chat session to coordinate plans. Furthermore, profiles include minimal personal content, peoples’ locations are not displayed on maps (distance and time information are only generalized) and ‘Kinections’ between people are ephemeral and automatically expire in approximately 24 hours. “Together, these approaches provide an experience that is very easy to use but keeps people in constant control of their privacy.”

KinectUs™ is ideal for many including socially active individuals, new residents, young professionals, travelers, groups seeking to connect members (alumni networks, running clubs, etc.), colleges and companies seeking to strengthen internal networks, just to name a few.

“This is the first step for KinectUs™– we have an exciting product roadmap with plans to expand KinectUs™ into a leading location-based, real-time mobile social platform that provides local and national brands unique opportunities to engage with our community. Our goal is for KinectUs™ to be the go-to app for on-demand social plans.”

About KinectUs™

KinectUs™ was co-founded by Chris Nordstrom and Romit Roy Choudhury, Ph.D., a leading mobile researcher with the University of Illinois, and created by an experienced team of engineers, designers, and advisors. For more information visit www.KinectUs.net or submit inquiries to hello@KinectUs.net.
