Point Grey Launches New Censys3D™ People Counting and Tracking 3D Stereo Vision Sensor for Retail Analytics

Point Grey Launches New Censys3D

RICHMOND, British Columbia–Point Grey, a global leader in the design and manufacturing of innovative, high-performance digital cameras, today announced the release of the new Censys3D people counting and tracking 3D stereo vision sensor.

“Point Grey’s experience with people counting sensors in the retail analytics market goes back over a decade”

Censys3D is Point Grey’s next generation 3D sensor, designed specifically for retail analytics applications that need an accurate, cost effective and reliable device.

Censys3D is based on Point Grey’s patented stereo vision technology and uses 3D information to track and count people in the field of view with over 98% accuracy. It is designed to be easy to install, configure and integrate with enterprise systems using a web interface that does not require special plug-ins. The sensor uses a Linux-based open development platform that allows retail analytics companies to expand the sensor’s capabilities beyond its off-the-shelf people counting functionality. This allows Censys3D customers to create differentiation by developing their own custom embedded applications.

“Point Grey’s experience with people counting sensors in the retail analytics market goes back over a decade,” says Michael Gibbons, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Point Grey. “Since 2001 we’ve delivered over 150,000 sensors to the retail analytics market, known for their high reliability and excellent 3D accuracy. This next generation Censys3D sensor builds on those strengths and provides retail analytics, airport management, and security customers from around the world with a readily available, cost effective 3D stereo vision alternative.”
