Kyocera Launches Rugged DuraXTP Phone at Sprint Nationwide

SAN DIEGO-Kyocera Communications Inc. today announced that its newest rugged mobile device, the Kyocera DuraXTP, has launched for Sprint customers. DuraXTP is the latest rugged feature phone in Kyocera’s highly successful Dura Series of waterproof, rugged phones, which originated in 2012 to support the Sprint® Direct Connect® Push to Talk service. Well-qualified Sprint customers can get the Kyocera DuraXTP for 24 monthly payments of just $9 with $0 down1 at Sprint stores, 1-800-SPRINT1 FREE or www.sprint.com.

@kyoceramobile announced newest rugged mobile device, the Kyocera DuraXTP, has launched for Sprint customers.

This rugged, waterproof feature phone packs toughness and functionality in a convenient flip design that can withstand even the toughest jobsite. Encased in non-slip Dura-Grip® material, the DuraXTP provides a sure hold. And in the event it does take a fall, users can be confident knowing it is built with a reinforced housing; Military Standard 810G certification for shock, vibration, blowing rain and temperature extremes; and IP68 dustproof and waterproof certification for up to 30 minutes in up to 6 feet of water. It also carries OSHA certification for use in hazardous environments where flammable gases, vapors, or mists are not normally present in an explosive concentration but may materialize (Hazardous Locations: Non-incendive, Class I, Division 2), making it well-suited for industries such as oil exploration and production, utilities, chemical production, airport refueling, and pharmaceuticals.

“Kyocera continues to be recognized as the leader in rugged mobile devices, and we’re happy to offer Sprint customers durable phones designed to meet their needs,” said Chuck Becher, vice president and general manager of sales and marketing, Kyocera Communications. “The DuraXTP further builds upon our promise to keep workforces productive by providing phones that excel on the job, while offering the functionality needed to survive and thrive in the harshest environments.”

Built to support Sprint Direct Connect Push to Talk service, DuraXTP allows users to instantly communicate with a large dedicated side key, while proprietary Smart Sonic Receiver technology and extra-loud front speakers make it easier to hear clearly in the noisiest environments. Its tactile keypad and large buttons are easy to use with gloved hands or large fingers and top keys provide quick access to activate the speaker phone and end calls. A high-contrast black-and-white external display makes it easy to read while outside on the job. Additional functionality includes mobile Web, voice commands for placing calls and sending messages, and support for GPS location-based services, allowing users to connect and work on the go.
