Technology Recovery Group Acquires 30% Stake in Oxbow Social Media Monitoring

May 9, 2016 By LBSzone

CLEVELAND, May 6, 2016 – Technology Recovery Group, a leading Mobility Managed Service provider, has acquired a 30% stake in Oxbow Social Media Monitoring. The investment will allow Oxbow to invest in expanding current and future software developments and fund new strategic marketing campaigns. Oxbow will also be able to utilize TRG’s expanding software/application developers on mobile software projects for IOs, Android, and Windows software platforms.

Oxbow was founded by Dan Krueger in 2013 to proactively address children’s misuse of social media. After witnessing the detrimental effects of how social media can impact children, Krueger wanted to create a software app that allowed oversight of his own children’s social pages. Launched in 2015, Oxbows monitoring services allow parents to view, approve, and reject postings on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, with other social media support planned in the future.

The security and safety barrier that Oxbow gives parents is one of the reasons that TRG President Sean Kennedy decided to invest in the business. “TRG is a family-oriented company, and many of us have kids that use social media now, or will be in the near future,” Kennedy says. “There’s no way around it. Technology is advancing so quickly.  Kids just post pictures and statements on their social media outlets, and they don’t understand the ramifications of posting inappropriate things.”

Oxbow’s approach to social media monitoring is to use the app to teach children to use the sites correctly, not to limit their usage by helicopter parenting. TRG’s focus on mobile technology, strong leadership, and diverse mobile offerings jelled with Oxbow’s desire to develop a better social media tool.

“This investment will accelerate our reach and application development to make Oxbow the best app it can be,” Dan Krueger says. “Soon we are going to be rolling out new updates, Android support, and more features. Our current users will love what we have coming down the pipeline to help their children use social media in a better way.”
