The COVID-19 Recovery Insights provides 30 business, tourism, and market metrics that are updated daily, for organizations of all sizes to develop recovery strategies, in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

Gladys Kong, CEO, UberMedia said, “We are in uncharted territory. Businesses cannot rely on historical data to inform their decisions in this unprecedented time. The recovery process is going to be challenging for many industries. We wanted to provide a tool that offers invaluable data and insights to organizations planning its long-term recovery strategy.” She continued, “During these unique and uncertain times, our mobile location data is able to answer key questions specific to recovery during this pandemic by providing direct, quantifiable data on how people are engaging with their community and retailers.”

UberMedia data scientists are leading the effort to understand metrics impacting businesses and communities across the U.S. by collecting high quality, contextualized mobile location data from a variety of sources. 70% of the United States population is included in the COVID-19 Recovery Insights panel and one million retail locations are included in the metrics. The COVID-19 Recovery Insights tool is the only collaborative offering that combines partnership data metrics, including retail, health, community engagement, and purchase data.

Retailers, researchers, and government organizations can quickly access insights about locations of all sizes. The COVID-19 Recovery Insights tool is developed with feedback from UberMedia’s current customers, who have been using the tool to build predictive models, understand movement patterns, and validate business decisions. UCSC Researchers, along with many other research institutions and business organizations, were early adopters of this tool. Now, it is generally available to the public.

UberMedia’s data is sourced from a variety of high quality suppliers and processed through a series of filtering, cleaning, consolidation, and contextualization steps before it is added to its comprehensive database. Contextualization includes making raw GPS coordinates actionable by identifying visits within hand-drawn precise location polygons.
