Google Drive Offline Mode Rolling Out To All Users

September 5, 2021 By lbszoneditor

Google Drive is considered one the best platform to use when it comes to cloud storage. And Google is unrelenting when it comes to improving the overall functions and experience of the platform. Having announced a big change for the platform a few months ago, the cloud storage app is getting another massive update on desktops: a new Google Drive app will be replacing the current experience.

Right before that comes to fruition, Google will be making a vital change to Google Drive. Offline mode will be available on Google Drive to web users and best American online casinos users. This means that users will be able to access certain files and documents in their browsers even if they had no access to the internet.

Modern computing always makes cloud storage a pivotal part of the whole experience. Whether it’s personal or for work, cloud storage was taken for granted on many devices.

Google Drive helps the users share files with other people easily, and also give you access to files on all sorts of devices, which includes smartphones, tablets, and traditional computers. But the only problem is that the cloud services needs continuous internet access.

If you have no access to the internet, then your cloud app or services won’t be working. Be it Google Drive, OneDrive, iCloud, or any other cloud service, they all require active connections. This is where the offline mode for Google Drive proves to be handy for users. It will help you mark important files for offline access.

How the Google Drive Offline Mode Works

In its Workspace Updates blog, Google announced that the Google Drive offline mode will finally be available to users interested. A beta program was carried out back in 2019 which allowed the Drive users to mark non-Google files types available offline in the web version of the Google Drive.

Google says: “When you mark these files available offline, you can easily open these files from your browser even when you aren’t connected to the internet.”

But things aren’t all that simple though. Google confirmed that via online pokies au: “non-Google files such as PDFs, images and Microsoft Office files will need to be opened using apps installed on your computer through Google Drive Web when offline.”

If Google Drive is offline, it’ll let you open non-Google files with the use of apps installed on your device. This is something users need to consider when setting up files for offline access.

Google also confirmed that accessing Google Drive documents offline will work using the Google Drive desktops apps. So you don’t need to load Google Drive on the web to gain access.

But if you wish to access the Google Drive documents offline from your browser, you’ll have to wait till Google rollout the feature to users. It will be available to all Workspace users, Cloud Identity Free, Cloud Identity Premium, G Suite Basic, Business users, and personal accounts.

The scheduled released domain will be starting on September 14th for all users.
