New service offers babysitting for social media accounts

December 11, 2013 By LBSzone

SocialSitter monitors and protects social media accounts after hours and on weekends, so that social media managers can rest easy. Every piece of content is reviewed by our human content review team and you receive an SMS if there is an issue.

Dialogue Consulting today launched SocialSitter, a service that monitors and protects social media accounts after hours.

“Social media operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week,” explains CEO Hugh Stephens. “While consumers don’t expect brands to be there all the time, brands are increasingly concerned about what happens outside their normal hours – and those managing the social media profiles can’t be there all day, every day.”

Stephens points to a recent example of an airline who had a pornographic image posted overnight on their Facebook Page, which was subsequently seen by an 8 year old boy before they could remove it the next day.

SocialSitter is a moderation service providing human review of all social media content posted within 15 minutes. In the event any issues are discovered (such as inappropriate content), the service can either automatically remove the content or notify the social media manager via SMS.

“Our service is unique in that we do not manage the community – we are not responding on behalf of brands. We simply review content for anything inappropriate or illicit, and notify the appropriate people if anything occurs,” Stephens elaborates. “As a result, we are able to provide SocialSitter at a low cost of around $7 per hour, which is significantly less than having someone working out of hours responding to queries online.”

SocialSitter allows social media managers to switch off outside the office and rest easy in the knowledge that their accounts are not compromised in their absence.

The service was created by social media consultants Dialogue Consulting, who help brands reduce their social media risk through a range of products and services. “SocialSitter was created out of a clear market gap for a cost-effective way of managing what happens on your social media accounts out of hours without breaking the bank, and giving social media managers some peace of mind,” concludes Stephens.

To provide the service, Dialogue Consulting has partnered with SamaSource, a non-profit organisation that works to alleviate poverty by connecting unemployed women and youth in impoverished countries with digital work.
