Montreal’s Saputo Stadium Chooses Aruba to Transform the Gameday Experience for MLS Fans
Canada’s Second Largest Soccer Stadium and Home of the Montreal Impact Reopens Stadium with Aruba Wireless, Switching and Management Solutions to Engage with Fans and Improve Operations
SANTA CLARA, Calif.–Aruba, a Hewlett Packard Enterprise company (NYSE: HPE), today announced that Saputo Stadium in Montreal, Canada, home of Major League Soccer’s (MLS) Montreal Impact, is deploying an Aruba network to deliver reliable, high-performing Wi-Fi and new gameday experiences to fans, as well as to streamline and automate stadium operations.
Saputo Stadium is part of Montreal’s Olympic Park, originally built for the 1976 Summer Olympics. With capacity for 19,000+ fans, the Stadium provides an unobstructed view of the iconic Montreal tower – the world’s tallest inclined tower – and sits on a 1.6 million square foot complex that includes administrative offices, a training field and player welfare areas.
Providing fans with in-stadium Wi-Fi, and all of the related experiences this can enable, was a key driver for the deployment, according to Saputo’s IT Director, Roger Miron.
“Though the pandemic has caused us to have to delay the start of our home game play this year, engaging with fans and allowing them to share their experiences with each other and via social media is still one of the main hallmarks of the in-stadium experience,” Miron said. “Implementing a reliable, high performing Wi-Fi network is the first step in our multi-phase initiative to enable extraordinary experiences, as well as improve our own stadium operations, and we’re excited to welcome our fans back to the stadium.”
Working with partner, Vidéotron, a leader in Canadian telecommunications and founding sponsor and partner for the Montreal Impact, Saputo is deploying Aruba access points, mobility controllers and Aruba core and access switches, as well as AirWave for network management. Aruba’s turnkey solution that includes wireless, switching and management, was a key factor in Saputo’s decision to select Aruba, as was the ability to layer on additional Aruba technology solutions as the Stadium’s needs grow.
“We knew that Aruba had already been successfully deployed in many other stadiums and we saw early on that the Aruba infrastructure was easy to deploy,” Miron said. “In addition, the Aruba network offers the kind of scalability we need to handle the expected device density in our Stadium. We’ve engineered the network to accommodate two devices per attendee, and we’re confident the Aruba network can handle this load – or more – should we need to increase that.”
Besides utilizing the network for fan engagement, Saputo Stadium plans to modernize and improve concessions ordering and delivery, create more efficient order taking and delivery both in Stadium suites and for Saputo’s retail vendors. The Stadium also plans to introduce mobile ticketing and build a mobile app to allow fans to discover and utilize all of the Stadium’s amenities.
To assist with these plans, Saputo is evaluating additional Aruba solutions such as Meridian location-based services and Aruba beacons for applications like in-seat concessions ordering, as well as analytics so that the Stadium can better understand and customize services based on its fans’ needs and preferences.
Said Miron, “As we strive to provide our fans with the best experiences possible in our Stadium, we’ll continue to look for ways the network can help us and with Aruba, we’re confident that we can continue down this path.”

CitrusAd Unleashes Banner X for Grocery eCommerce
Banner X Marks the Desired Spot for Online Brands
NEW YORK—CitrusAd unleashes Banner X on their retail media platform in the USA which provides brands and retailers with click through rates that are on average 10 to 30 times traditional display media.
Banner X ads are fully responsive, natively served banner ads with real-time personalization that are positioned in the grid of eCommerce product carousels. The ad style is congruent to each retailer’s eCommerce design and layout including fonts, call to action (CTA) buttons and other style guidelines to complement and enhance the online shopping experience. This is a welcome change from programmatic display ad media that can look out of place with little to no relevancy to the shopper visit.
Additionally, Banner X are easily built and self-managed within the CitrusAd platform itself and provide CPGs with the ability to target and select the search terms they feel are most viable for their strategic approach. It is all API driven to streamline a retailer’s digital monetization business. CPGs and agencies no longer need to book positions weeks in advance from going live and retailer teams do not need to upload creative. By accessing the real-time reporting dashboard, brands and retailers can visualize the measured ad results within 5 minutes of being live.
CitrusAd will be launching video into Banner X, display media and branded pages this year empowering retailers to compete with the likes of Facebook and Google by offering video content capability at the point of purchase.
Savvy brands and agencies are combining Banner X with Sponsored Product campaigns, resulting in some CPGs increasing category market share by 500 points within 14 days of going live.
Grocery retailers using the Mercatus Integrated Commerce® platform are some of the first online stores to offer Banner X positions to suppliers. “For our retail partners, the ability to generate additional revenue from their eCommerce storefronts with native digital advertising is a clear winner,” said Sylvain Perrier, president and CEO of Mercatus. “Banner X ad placements offer the ability to present hyper-relevant, targeted ads that not only deliver a bigger promotional punch, but also are more cost-effective for advertisers, and at the same time improve the overall shopper experience.”
CitrusAd, CEO, Brad Moran stated, “We are an innovative retail media technology company to our core, our mission is to help retailers and their suppliers become more effective and efficient in eCommerce. Banner X is only the first step in our journey to quickly improve the execution of display media in eCommerce platforms. They are native, highly responsive, load fast, and more relevant, delivering better visibility, greater impact and higher conversion rates while improving shopper satisfaction.”
These dynamic banner ads also provide increased accessibility as they can contain additional information that helps support blind and disabled shoppers that utilize screen readers.
